International Women Day

Like many offices today, ours works with people from all over the globe. Not only is our in-office staff incredibly eclectic when it comes to nationalities and cultural backgrounds, but we have a remote team with roots all over the world. Because of this, it was essential to our management team that we plan an event for International Women Day!

The first step in this process for us was learning when is International Women's Day 2023 and moving forward from there. Our boss had plenty of input concerning the type of party she wanted to throw, and somehow, our March 8 women's day party turned into a week-long event, complete with games, gifts, and prizes.

Since our company is woman-owned, we have a special place in our hearts for the beautiful women who run our company. Our boss is very aware of how much her staff contributes. For this particular occasion, she was dedicated to creating a happy International Women's Day for every woman in the office.

Though some of her events were a bit far-fetched, such as turning the warehouse downstairs into an actual carnival, complete with rides and game booths, others were fantastic. She asked us to assemble gift baskets for every woman on staff, complete with branded gear, custom items for each woman, and snack baskets curated perfectly to special diets and preferences.

We got started right away, contacting SwagMagic, SnackMagic, and local vendors that could help us turn our office space into a full-blown carnival. Even the men in the office were thrilled, though this week of non-stop workday partying wasn't really about them. Still, Mark couldn't help but join in on the planning, booking a petting zoo to visit our office on carnival day.

Though most of us were convinced this was a terrible idea, Mark pitched it to our manager, and lo and behold, she loved it.

International Women's Day gift ideas

While Mark and our boss decided where to keep the farm animals, the rest of our party planning team focused on what type of International Women Day gifts our fellow employees might like. We decided that swag would be a good idea as part of an International Women Day gift box, and we could also include self-care items, such as workout gear, candles, and healthy snacks.

Our International Women's Day gift ideas were coming together, and we were excited to start putting the boxes together for the upcoming event. While we were distracted, Mark and our boss went above and beyond regarding the carnival, with a full-size Ferris wheel that would have to go outside, adult bounce houses, and fireworks.

They were incredibly excited about their plans, but the rest of us felt a little nervous. Even the remote employees were apprehensive and didn't have to be present. As boxes of fireworks and sparklers arrived at our office, we decided to reach out to corporate. We didn't want our boss to lose her job, but we also didn't want her to blow up the building or, worse, the petting zoo!

International Women's Day gifts for employees

Our week of celebration was quickly approaching, and we hadn't heard from corporate yet regarding the massive event our boss had planned. Our International Women's Day gifts for employees had arrived, and we packed them into beautiful boxes to be gifted in-office and sent out to remote workers.

Our International Women Day swag was sorted into different piles for games and giveaways, including sweatshirts, workout pants, and branded mugs. Finally, the head of our party planning team got a call from corporate, and they asked for the details of the party and hung up before she could finish talking!

Corporate team members showed up that night, having flown in from two states over. Our boss was shocked to see them and ran downstairs to the warehouse to cover up the boxes of fireworks, but it was too late, as we'd already told them her plans.

The corporate team pulled her into an office, and we all started feeling a little guilty about telling on her, and Mark was nowhere to be found. Finally, their meeting ended, and corporate went down to the warehouse and took the boxes of fireworks and sparklers with them.

International Women's Day theme 2023

Our boss was out of the office for a few days after that, and we were unsure if she'd been fired or was taking a few days off. We decided to keep our International Women's Day theme 2023 and stick to the carnival theme without the fireworks.

Mark eventually showed up and stated that he didn't cancel the petting zoo and it would still be a part of our International Women's Day 2023 theme. He admitted that the fireworks had been his idea and assured our boss he could set them off without issue. He told us he was sure she hadn't been fired, but we needed proof.

Either way, it felt wrong to launch our International Women's Day events without her, as she was so excited about providing staff members the perfect week that she got caught up in Mark's firework nonsense.

We decided to contact corporate to see if she'd been fired. They informed us that she was taking a few days off and would be back in time for our celebrations. Needless to say, most of us, especially Mark, were relieved.

Women's Day celebration ideas in office

Our Women's Day Celebration Ideas in office went off without a hitch. Our boss came back just in time to celebrate and help us hand out swag and snacks, and we showed our employees and remote team how to celebrate International Women's Day. The bounce houses were a hit, and the animals at the petting zoo were so adorable everyone forgot about Mark's stupid fireworks idea.

Women's Day Celebration ideas in school are just as impressive as those in the office. We'd recommend using the same general ideas as we did for our office party, but maybe not as extensive, as our boss really went above and beyond.

International Women's Day history

Our events included information about International Women's Day history, and we were thrilled to share so much about the special day with our staff for an entire week. From why do we celebrate Women's Day on March 8 to the importance of Women's Day, we all learned quite a bit, Mark included!

The petting zoo and carnival games were nice touches, but the week-long event held loads of information and knowledge, and all that good stuff (and maybe the fantastic swag) is what saved our boss from being fired for this whole fiasco.

Throwing the perfect office party

Throwing the perfect office party can be a challenge, especially when you have a few team members who are super excited about the topic. It's easy to go overboard, and our boss and Mark quickly learned how things could get out of hand, especially when working with a company budget.

SwagMagic provides the perfect party favors and gifts for specific office party themes. You can order what you want without overspending, and that's precisely what we did since most of the budget was blown on a giant Ferris wheel.
